AAP

AGA

Appropriate for gestational age describes a fetus or newborn infant whose size is within the normal range for his or her gestational age. An appropriate for gestational age full-term infant is heavier than 2,500 grams (about 5.5 lbs.) and lighter than 4,000 grams (about 8.75 lbs.)

ATP

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a nucleoside triphosphate used in cells as a coenzyme, often called the "molecular unit of currency" of intracellular energy transfer. ATP transports chemical energy within cells for metabolism. It is one of the end products of photophosphorylation, cellular respiration, and fermentation and used by enzymes and structural proteins in many cellular processes, including biosynthetic reactions, motility, and cell division.

BPD

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a chronic lung condition that affects newborn babies who were either put on a breathing machine after birth or were born very early (prematurely).

CLD

Chronic Lung Disease means that damaged tissue in the newborn's lungs is causing breathing and health problems. The lungs trap air or collapse, fill with fluid, and produce extra mucus.
Most babies who have chronic lung disease survive. But symptoms may come back and need treatment into early childhood. In time, many children outgrow most of their lung problems.
Chronic lung disease is also known as bronchopulmonary dysplasia, or BPD

DHA

Docosahexaenoic acid: an omega-3 fatty acid that is a primary structural component of the human brain, cerebral cortex, skin, sperm, testicles and retina. It can be synthesized from alpha-linolenic acid or obtained directly from maternal milk or fish oil. DHA's structure is a carboxylic acid (-oic acid) with a 22-carbon chain (docosa- is Greek for 22) and six (hexa-) cis double bonds (-en).
